Who We Are


Dave Kaverman is the founder of Acuity Mergers + Acquisitions. Dave brings insight and perspective from his experiences in corporate management at General Motors and Hewlett Packard and with business ownership of the area’s top independent bookstore. After leaving the corporate world to open his own business, Dave built his bookstore into the largest independent book seller in the state of Indiana and one of the top stores in the Midwest region. For the past fifteen years, Dave has been helping business owners with buying and selling their businesses.

Career Highlights

General Motors
After graduating from General Motors Institute (BS, Mechanical Engineering) and the University of Michigan (MBA), Dave held several positions within GM including that of a Product Cost Analyst, Sr. Analyst for Overseas Programs and a Supervisor of Product Cost Analysis. All these positions involved working with multi-million-dollar programs within General Motors and its joint ventures around the world.
1979
Hewlett Packard
While with HP, Dave served in Product Marketing and Channel Management roles. Dave’s last position was as a Marketing Manager responsible for a $50 million worldwide product line with four direct reports.
1983
Business Ownership
After leaving HP, Dave founded the Little Professor Book Company, which operated for ten years as a Little Professor franchise. Dave grew this business into the top independent bookseller in Indiana and one of the top bookstores in the region. This company had a total staff of more than fifty and sales greater than $5 million annually.
1992
Buying/Selling Businesses
Due to changes within the Little Professor franchise and the rise of Amazon in the bookselling world, Dave decided the time and climate was right to pursue a new challenge. He spent the next decade working with a firm in Fort Wayne that focused on business and commercial real estate transactions.
2004
Acuity Mergers + Acquisitions
In 2013, Dave co-founded Acuity Mergers + Acquisitions. His passion for business and community development, combined with concern that small and medium businesses were being underserved by the market, motivated Dave to start a new firm that would provide top-quality services to this very important segment. Acuity Mergers + Acquisitions opened for business on July 1, 2013.
2013

Since founding Acuity, Dave has continued his active involvement in the Northeast Indiana business community as well as the mergers and acquisitions community. He has continued to hone his skills as an expert in business ownership transitions as well as building and maintaining relationships with other professionals who provide expert advice in this and other fields. This network provides an added resource for his Acuity clients as needed.
